Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a Title I school and I teach second grade. Our classroom is a close-knit community of learners. We call ourselves the Bear Family and my students really do treat each other like family. They are so caring about each other and constantly support each other and push each other to take risks with their learning. They are constantly asking questions and they are all voracious readers.

Every day is a new adventure in our classroom with the bear family!

My Project

Please help me to bring some meaningful read aloud literature into my classroom.

Read alouds are a great resource for getting students to talk about difficult issues.

These read alouds will help us to start conversations about big and difficult topics like racism, sexism, LGBTQ awareness as well as bring to light some important female and POC figures who don't often get taught in school.

I am so excited to share these titles with my students and use them as a tool to let students really dive into these topics. I appreciate you taking the time to view my project!
