The students in my 7th grade core class are curious and inquisitive. They question the world around them, as well as their place in it, and often turn to reading to try and figure out who and what they are going to be as they grow. They lose themselves in their reading and are often surprised by what they find in return.
As their teacher, I am proud of their creative thinking and want to provide the tools that they need to develop into life-long learners.
My students thrive on collaboration and are always searching for different perspectives on complex issues. They love to share their ideas with their classmates. Next, they will share their ideas with the world.
My Project
New scientific research and discoveries are changing our world. Emerging technologies and innovation in industries are rapidly changing how we live our lives and this requires a major shift in classroom instruction and learning across all subjects, including our reading & writing standards. The Next Generation Science Standard address the skills my student need to succeed as they continue their academic journey and beyond.
This project helps me grow my classroom resources for the implementation of the new science standard across the curriculum.
The Sphero Spark Education Kits are designed to support my whole classroom, with supplies and learning materials to help inspire my 7th graders to think outside the box. Included in the pack is a power pack charging case, 12 Sphero SPRK+ robots, inductive charging bases, clear turbo covers, maze tape, 360 degree protractors, classroom posters, stickers and a quick start guide to make it easy to set up the technology. All these tools and resources will allow my students to engage in unique writing and literature projects that tie in computer science. Students will be given specific challenges that require group collaboration, a clearly defined process proposal, and detailed evaluation upon completion. We will use the 360 cameras to record and document our project progress.
Students always love new tools that allow them to bring their work to life. Sphero robots and the 360 cameras present an innovative way to teach project based learning, design thinking, and 21st century design skills. Our world is changing and so must our classroom resources.
