My kindergarten students come to school everyday excited and eager to learn. I greet them daily at the door with a hug and a smile, so they know how happy I am to have them here! My 5 and 6 year olds are not only learning academically, but socially as well.
Our school, located in a university town, has a very involved community and neighborhood.
My students are from all different walks of life- from disadvantaged families, parents who are university students, to middle class students, international families, and more. This wealth of diversity makes my class an amazing learning environment to be a part of.
Students will have access to their own magnifying glasses at all times, allowing them to explore independently instead of sharing with multiple peers. We use magnifying glasses all year to explore different materials, animals, leaves, and more. One lesson I use in the fall, explores leaf colors. Students will use the magnifying glasses to get a closer look at leaves. They will also use the droppers to combine different colors to make the leaf colors found around our campus.
To have their own science area will be amazing!
Students cannot reach the counters in my classroom, so I can only put out science materials when it is science time. With a science cart, students can explore and investigate science materials all day long!
Having literature on hand about what they are investigating is so important. Our library does not always have multiple copies of science literature to pair with what we are studying.
