I teach reading and math to 107 fourth grade students. My students are from low income, high poverty homes. Eighty percent of our students are on free and reduced lunch. My students are adventurous, innovative, and compassionate. Despite the adversities they face in and out of school, they persevere academically.
A number of my students struggle with reading and perform on a 2nd-grade level; this does not stop their drive and hard work.
My kids are very active students who love music, dancing, and moving through the classroom. These reading materials will further promote a student-centered classroom. It will also provide students with unique opportunities to take ownership and become invested in their education.
My Project
I love teaching reading and my students inspire me to seek resources to enrich them. The various resources of this project will promote a student-centered learning environment. They will also help students master what it takes to be an effective reading. They will love to play these challenging games. I want to spark students love for reading and comprehension. I seek to inspire students to take their learning into their own hands. The materials of this project correlate with our standards, are engaging, and fun to use.
My goal is to cultivate a learning environment that produces motivated, empowered, and engaged learners.
Student motivation and commitment to their learning will increase with these resources. Having a variety of games in the classroom will allow kids to learn based on their individualized needs.
The reading comprehension games library allows students to go on an adventure to improve vocabulary, and search for jewels to analyze cause and effect. It also provides learning games for making inferences, information, main idea, and comprehension. The match and sort language quickies are quick to play and sharpen students' language skills in a flash. They focus on Literature, Grammar, Writing, Vocabulary and Informational Text. These hands on games will develop skills and mastery of content. Hands-on games like Bingo and Are You Ready for 4th grade will reinforce reading skills with fun games students love to play.
Lastly, these reading resources will make learning fun for my kids. My students face many challenges in and out of school. These tools will motivate students and increase their love for school and learning. Thank you for putting a SPARK in our Reading!
