This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Keep their writing in one place! My students will write on anything they can get their hands on to create their own stories or essays, with one problem, they lose what they have written. Help keep them organized with these journals.
My students are a creative bunch from the urban areas of Missouri.
I have seen them create beautifully written stories in my time working with them as well as songs and poems. I am a firm believer that students that embrace their creative side are well rounded and tend to appreciate the arts more.
My Project
My students will use these different journals to help not only keep track of their writing, but also get practice in focusing their skills on a particular genre. Each student has their own preference for what they like to write. Some students prefer to write non-fiction pieces and some prefer to write narrative and truly heart gripping stories. With the vocabulary journal, we will learn a new vocabulary word a day to help increase the diversity of words used in their writing pieces. Finally, the students will be able to keep these journals and look back at them for many years.
Creativity is something that is often looked down upon by society.
I want my students to know that they should never feel ashamed to write what is in their heart and minds. By donating to this project, you will show them that creativity is just as important as anything else in the world.
