My Students
My students are curious, artistic, and demonstrate natural leadership abilities. Our class is a very diverse, multi-age, fourth and fifth grade class. The students enjoy working on inquiry based learning, projects, research and using technology to enhance their learning. They are excited and encouraged when they reach their learning goals.
Our students need more access to learning tools that will support their social, emotional and academic development.
Students in this class enjoy graphic novels because they support students who struggle with reading to become more interested in daily practice. Student are working toward meeting reading goals for a school-wide reading challenge.
My Project
My students need high interest reading materials to encourage them to engage in regular reading practice and to develop a life long passion for reading. Strong reading skills are necessary to help students become successful in life and an actively participate as a global citizen.
Our students need access to a variety of interesting books to spark their interest in daily reading practice and to encourage discussion about literature.
Graphic novels will help hook reluctant readers and introduce students to a different genre of reading. Students will make book recommendations to their peers after reading the novels and discuss strategies the author used to develop the characters.
