My students need headphones with microphones because they are using a new software to learn Spanish. It compares their speech to a native speaker while rating them.

My Students

It's so nice to see kids get excited about learning another language. This new software allows them to speak Spanish and then compares them to a native speaker. They are so competitive and keep speaking to try to sound native. Practice makes perfect!!

My students are part of a very diverse population at a middle/high school in California's capital.

The school is 62% Free/Reduced lunch. We are a pilot school in our district where students are allowed to bring their own technology. This is also being used to help get students interested in another language using a new software program in Spanish.

My Project

These headphones will help give these students a nice background and a great head start in learning another language making them competitive in an ever-changing global society. I have taught Spanish for 5 years and I have never seen students get as excited as they do when they are trying to match the native speaker. I'm exploding with pride.

Having access to making the most of this technology will help these students learn Spanish faster.

These opportunities to speak the language will provide good practice needed to grasp the language.
