Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a very hardworking group of third graders. They have been in a Dual Immersion classroom submerging themselves in both Spanish and English curriculum.
My students need more exposure to Spanish literature.
This is my first year as a Dual Immersion teacher. I am seeking help to grow the Spanish section of my classroom library.
I currently serve a low-income community where more than 95% of our students receive free and reduced lunch. Over 60% of our students ride the bus to school. I currently am in third grade and would love to provide my students with a flexible seating arrangement.
My Project
It is important for my students to have the freedom to choose what they read. My classroom library currently has a limited amount of Spanish books. The Spanish books that are currently in my library don't really catch the attention of my students. I would like to add books that my students will enjoy such as The Diary of the Wimpy Kids series and more current books. This will encourage my students to pick these Spanish books up from our classroom library.
I want their love for reading to grow in both English and Spanish, which are the languages that they are being submerged in daily!
