Help me give my students o enjoy a great stories in Spanish that they already know in English to make a great connections. Also, help them to have their own space in carpet time .
I teach DLI Spanish in second grade. I have two groups of 27 students. I admire my students because they are willing to participate and learn every day. Learning other language is a little bit challenging for them, but they do great. I ask them to try every day and the mistakes are part of our learning. They love to try and start conversation even if they don't know how to say a word. I love to see them taking risks and am so proud of their improvement.
They love to chat during games and the are excited to have more games and books to read.
My Project
We have huge classes of 27 students in each. I love to give them books to read at home, and they love to listen to me reading Spanish to them. I choose more Spanish books; fiction and non-fiction; so they are in love with reading.
I also choose velcro dots to assign spots during carpet time for 27 students, because it is a huge class.Also some wobbles cushions will help them individually in table time.
I have to teach Math in Spanish. Though dice games are more engaging and easy, they also love to work with facts families and gain more confidence in basic operations. Vocabulary games in Spanish are a difficult resource to find, and they love them. Other logical and strategic games allows me to differentiated and work in different stations with them.
