Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergartners come to our school every day excited and ready to learn. They know that once they enter the classroom, they are at home. We have created a space that they find extremely comfortable.
My aide and I work hard every day to ensure that our students have a safe learning environment.
They truly feel as if they have a second family. I want all my students to know that I believe in them and that they can do anything they put their minds to. I want to support and enrich their learning 100%.
During this time we do not know what the 2020-2021 will look like. Students may come into our learning space or students may have to create their own. Either way, I will make sure they are prepared to learn.
My Project
I have the privilege of teaching a beautifully diverse class from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. I would like to improve my library so it does provide students with a greater reflection of their diversity. This project is especially important because the books I have chosen are in their primary language, Spanish.
These books will give my students the opportunity to read books that have characters that look like them and these books are in their language.
These books will add a diversity to my classroom library with books that are culturally relevant and reflective of my students, empowering my students to see themselves in these diverse characters.
These books are also by a diverse group of authors that can prove to my students that they can do anything they set their mind to.
