My Students

My students are inquisitive, voracious readers who are craving to discover the newest adventures in their favorite book series. More than a third of the students come from low-income households. My goal is for my students to experience copious amounts of pleasure reading so that they develop a lifelong love for reading. Access to books is a significant factor in getting students to read. If my students had access to Spanish books, a robust selection of print that appeals to a wide variety of interests, they would be more apt to develop/enhance language proficiency.

My Project

My goal is for my students to become life-long learners through reading. Literacy is the key to all robust learning, whether it is science, history or language. Reading is also a powerful tool for acquiring language. Independent learning and language acquisition are probable if learners have access to meaningful resources. My goal is to help my students begin to learn that reading is fun, a perfect way to build better readers. Authentic books are a gateway to better reading skills for reluctant readers.
