Spanish Civil War - CAPTIVATING Story for Spanish Students!

My Students

The majority of these students are in 10th, 11th and 12th grade. I am proud to teach and live in the community my own children attend. I want my students to fall in love with learning and knowing Spanish. I want my students to feel success as they comprehend Spanish in my classroom. I want my students to be Global Citizens of our world. We are community together! I am so passionate about my job as a teacher and mentor.

My Project

I am asking for 40 Spanish readers (a class set) for my Spanish Level 4 and 5 students. This reader is called LA HIJA DEL SASTRE (Daughter of a Seamstress). This reader takes place during the Spanish Civil War. Students will learn about this historical time period, and open their minds and hearts to different perspectives of the war, sides, and different characters in the story. Level 4 and 5 Spanish students will increase their vocabulary in Spanish, and their use of the present, past, conditional, future tenses as well as the subjunctive moods - in reading, writing, speaking and listening (the four modes of learning another language).

This book is captivating, and brings culture, vocabulary and grammar to life!

This is an essential piece to teaching upper level Spanish classes. Readers connect meaning and in the moment conversations full of fact, opinion and feeling.
