My students need a Spanish Big Book Kit and 3 sets of Coleccion Facil de Leer easy Spanish readers for Dual Language Kindergarten.
This project expired on March 8, 2011.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Do you remember listening to your teacher read from a giant book in Kindergarten? Did you spend time at the "teacher's table" during guided reading? Shared group reading and small group reading are an essential part of learning to read. We need Spanish reading materials. Want to help?
We are a dynamic campus of inspired learners and teachers.
I teach dual-language kindergarten in a Title I school. Many of my students are limited-English-proficient, at-risk and from low socio-economic backgrounds. I know that these students are fully capable of being successful, fluent readers in both English and Spanish, but we need more Spanish materials.
We need Spanish translations of classic children's Big Books such as Corduroy. Exposure to shared group reading in Spanish will help improve my students' phonemic awareness, decoding skills and reading fluency. The Spanish easy reader set would provide rich, engaging resources for us to use during guided reading. Guided reading is vital as it provides small group instruction for students on their reading level. It is so important to have these resources available for them in both languages, but we simply don't have adequate materials in Spanish.
Your gift can provide countless hours of reading for my students now and for years to come.
These books in Spanish are an invaluable resource and are essential to my students' Spanish literacy. Please consider giving to our project. You can be a part of the education of a child
