Help me give my students novels that will help them learn Spanish while teaching them about art, symbolism, and history!

Do you remember your language classes? Is your first thought that you "took five years and don't remember a word?" My students will not say that. Their fondest desire is to be fluent, and they work toward that goal every day.
My students are motivated learners in an urban environment who love to dig deeper into the material that is presented to them.
They always push to see what else they can learn, and are as proud of themselves as I am when they find success.
In my classroom, Spanish is a language, not a set of rules to follow or conjugations to memorize. My goal is to make it real for my students, and for them to use the language to communicate. Reading novels such as "Agentes Secretos y el Mural de Picasso" helps us to do just that.
The novel brings to life the Spanish Civil War and "Guernica", one of Picasso's masterpieces.
Taking the students on a Da Vinci Code-like adventure, they will learn history, the symbolism of art, and the geography of Barcelona - all while practicing and improving their Spanish. Through lessons designed to pique their interest, the students will have opportunities to discuss the characters, events, and places from the novel. As we read the novel, my students will constantly work to acquire more and higher levels of Spanish without even realizing they are working.
