Space! Science Up, Up, and Away!

My students need lab supplies to study the universe, this includes the video lab about our stars and outer space and the Earth-Moon model kits.

My Students

Our universe is HUGE, so how can my students come to understand its vast wonder? These junior scientists need a chance to explore our incredible universe with their own eyes and hands. Science should inspire students to inquire about the universe around them.

Too often, students feel dread in a science classroom, and I want to introduce them to a classroom experience where they can feel free to question and utilizing labs.

Many of the students in the school are low income and ESOL. I want to be able to supply my students with the materials they need, to not only learn Science, but also to grow as a confident and unique individual, who feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning from them.

My Project

My students will be able to use hands on learning in order to review material, expand their knowledge, and teach them how to ask questions. Additionally, it will teach students to inquire as to how and why things occur in the universe. I have requested supplies including an Our Stars and Outer Space Earth Science Videolab, and two Earth-Moon Model Kits to open the doors to Space for my students. These materials are a great way to show students how to solve problems, and evaluate their own work/learning. Additionally, students are going to be able to interact with the lesson better using the wireless pointer/mouse.

As a new teacher in a Title I school, I want the very best for my students.

My science class is an 80 minute class this year and we try to incorporate projects and labs every other class period. My main goal is to teach my wonderful students that science can be exciting and fun. This means providing lab materials for them. I am hoping the funding from this project will assist with the students' ability to delve deeper into the scientific world.
