My students need more fine motor activities since they usually come in to Kindergarten with a deficit in this area. This is a fun interactive way to reach that goal through play learning and building.
Each year I get a new group of students that are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! As young learners they thrive on hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box. Each student comes to school ready to tackle new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
I am determined to prepare each student for jobs that may not even exist yet while preserving the basics and fun of early childhood learning.
Since every child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, some learn through different methods and environments. This year my goal is to incorporate more hands on learning as opposed to digital technology. I feel if I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative techniques I will ensure the best learning options to meet each student's need right where they are! I look forward to incorporating these new technologies and leveling the learning field for all learners.
My Project
I chose the color light table to catch the attention of all learners. Students will to build fine motor skills but also craft their own creativity. Lessons will include building with geometric shapes, tracing, writing, drawing, number, letter and shape recognition as well as magnification and prism effects. Honestly, the possibilities are endless for all the things we can learn using this table. The biggest challenge I am facing now is to compete with the digital technologies these students have easily at there disposal and keeping them engaged for more than a minute. My students will be able to apply their knowledge of the world and utilize this table for constructive learning.
