Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My seventh grade English Language Arts students are wonderful. They are kind, thoughtful, and for the most part, love to read. They are mostly from Queens. My school is a Title I school, which means that a large percentage of our students come from low-income households.
My students benefit from having space for access to materials and additional books.
Having additional bookshelves in my room will let me display more books and have material like assignments, tissues and hand sanitizer more readily available.
My Project
Space is a valuable yet rare commodity in the classroom. I have done my best to maximize my resources through my school to have additional space in my classroom, but I have run out of options. I have additional books that are sitting in a closet because I have no room to put them out, and I have materials I would love students to have easy access to, but I have nowhere to put them.
Having these two additional bookshelves in my class will make a world of difference in my classroom.
Students would have access to all books available to them, and they would also be able to more easily grab common items such as assignments, tissues, pencils, and hand sanitizer.
