Help me give my students materials to allow them to get back on track when life delivers struggles. The ability to desclate or exert energy for a few minutes can change a child's mindset.
The kids at my school have a very special bond among their community and each other. The older kids look after the younger grades by being role models and leaders in the building. . Additionally, there is a high population of special needs students who make our school extraordinary. Their inclusion gives general education students the ability be empathetic and build relationships which will impact them for a lifetime.
As a PE teacher, my belief is that everyone has a strength, and anyone who believes in themselves, and their strength, is a success.
Children need to know they have a teacher in their corner. I also believe that if students can overcome obstacles, early in their lives , with a growth mindset, they will be have a lifetime trait of perseverance. My classroom is not like a typical classroom it gives students the opportunity to fail, succeed and have fun. The opportunities presented in my class are for everyone willing to learn and try.
Finally, I want each and every child know my classroom is a safe place. The opportunity for a sensory spot is included for any and all who need time to feel better about their situation.
My Project
The goal for an educator is for a student to come to school with optimism for the community they are a part of and to love of learning.
School has many positive aspects for most children, but the ability to release anxiety in a school setting can be challenging.
Unfortunately, not every student has the makeup mentally or emotionally to feel they have the ability release stressors or find outlets to release anxiety, stress, or anger productively.
I want to provide an area that students feel comfortable to come and either exercise, usa a fidget or sit quietly away from the hustle and bustle of a busy school day.
