My Students

My students are a great group of 6th graders! We have recently started our STEM initiative and they LOVE IT! They enjoy critical thinking and working together to solve problems! It's great to see kids of various ability levels working on and solving problems, each with their unique perspective. After 26 years, they are the reason I still love my job!

Help my students reach new heights by supporting our Space Balloon Project!

Our students will design, create, and collaborate on a payload that will be launched into space and provide data on the layers of the atmosphere.

My Project

STEM Education has become a very important part of what we do in education. At our school, we offer numerous opportunities for students to participate in STEM activities. In an effort to give my class the opportunity to work on a project that will actually be put to use, we have decided to launch a space balloon. In an effort to ensure success, we have asked Mr. Shawn Cerully of Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 to assist us with this project.

Mr. Cerully will provide the technical expertise to build and launch our Space Balloon.

He will help the students design and create a payload that will be launched into space and provide data on the layers of the atmosphere. Paying specific attention to the amount of helium required to reach our goal height as well as a stable parachute design for our payload to safely return to Earth.
