Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are diverse, enthusiastic, and excited to start the new school year. 75% of the children qualify for reduced lunch and who are always looking for new and innovative ways to learn.
As my mixed special needs and general education students begin seventh grade, they will have to accustom themselves to the new requirements of not only a different grade level, but of an ever changing world of requirements.
They must take a high stakes test toward the end of the school year, and every possible tool that we can bring to their disposal can only lead to their success for this school year, and onto their academic career.
My Project
My students benefit from a broad range of interaction. Handouts allow students to have notes at their disposal, especially those who have issues with quick note-taking. Our Sourcebooks, which are what we call the binders we keep in our classroom, encourage students to gather as much information, or "sources," in order to have necessary details right at their finger tips.
Students use their Sourcebooks as reference for debates, assignments, and collaborative group work.
This resource strengthens the learning that takes place. Without copy paper and toner to print notes, binder rings to electric punch index cards, and looseleaf paper to gather our note-taking in one spot, my students are at a disadvantage of getting the necessary information they need to succeed.
