Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

We are starting to conduct many independent and group research projects and presentations this year, and students love being able to break out into smaller teams to work on collecting information.

They use our classroom laptops and printer to share their findings but would like more options to be flexible during the information-gathering stage of their projects.

An iMac workstation computer (with mouse & keyboard) will let students use some preferred apps to practice their math facts, read e-books, or research some of our annual topics in social studies and science. We currently have absolute dinosaurs for PCs in the classroom; the gear we are requesting will be top-of-the-line behemoths to last this year and for many more to come. The Mac Mini will give us the computer power we need minus the monitor- which we thankfully will be able to address with the ones we already have in the room.

Our long-term goal is to get one piece of technology per student so that we have affordable and reliable computers available for our studies.
