Sounds We Hear

Help me give my students headphones and ear buds to hear videos and words with Co-Writer without distracting their neighbors so all can learn.

My Students

My students are proud to be 5th graders at a Personalized Learning School. They are the “top” of the school and looked up to by all the younger students. We are a lower income school where half receive free and reduced lunch.

My students show a lot of determination to find a way to solve problems.

The problems could be in math, reading, lunch, art, or life. As an educator, I strive to give my students the skills and materials needed to solve the problems they encounter. I have a very dynamic group of students. They have a love for learning and a willingness to attempt new pursuits.

Through DonorsChoose, with the help of all the amazing donors, students are able to have experiences where they learn new skills or master old ones.

When students are done with a specified task, they want to find new ways to express their learning. As a project is funded it shows students that people are invested in their success. Using the materials requested allows students to find another way to show their learning/mastery with items that might not have been available otherwise.

My Project

My students will greatly benefit from having a class set of headphones and ear buds. Many of my students do not have these items or they break soon into the school year. The lone extra set I have does not go a long way in my classroom to helping with noise distractions. The binder clips and plastic containers will allow for a semblance of organization so students can help keep track of this great resource.

When noise is involved, it can be very distracting to students that are trying to complete a task in quiet.

My students tend to work at varying paces on math, science, social studies, reading, and art projects. Using these headphones and ear buds will give students the level of concentration needed to succeed.

I truly hope this project becomes a reality for my students. While headphones and ear buds may seem like an easy thing to obtain, I have noticed that it is not always the case. My students want to learn and deserve the opportunity to learn without the distractions that other students can cause.
