This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are extraordinary and come from some truly amazing circumstances. My school is pretty close to completely free and reduced lunch, and we do our best to never ask them for extras if we can help it, even providing snacks on a daily basis.
My students are challenging, energetic, compassionate, and creative.
I am trying to become the best educator I can be to benefit them as much as possible. The inspire me every day to learn and grow more and more, to be who they need me to be.
My Project
This project will bring down the volume levels in my class somewhat, so that my students can focus more on their learning and won’t be as distracted by every little noise echoing off of the 12-foot ceilings in my classroom.
I will be mounting these foam tiles to the tops of the high walls in my room to absorb the sound waves reverberating around the room.
This should make it easier to hear each other and focus on our learning. A lot of my students come from traumatic situations and are perpetually in fight-or-flight mode, so a lot of extra noise can cause a large disruption.
