Mr. Keyes from Las Cruces NM is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students a storage cabinet, the opportunity to use headphones for individual videos, and have access to printing their materials for school.

I teach tenth grade students in AP European History and World History. The majority of my student population is primarily Latino and Caucasian with a large SPED and English language learner (ELL) population. African Americans, Asians, & Indigenous peoples make up a smaller percentage of our overall population. Many of our students come from low socioeconomic families and face many obstacles that hinder their academic experience. Within all of these classes are a broad variety of learning styles, but I have found that my students really enjoy having technology in the classroom.
My students enjoy learning the different ways they can use technology academically.
Many enter my class only knowing how to access social media. By the end of the year, students are armed with knowing how to submit work online, upload pictures and music, work with their peers online, and digital citizenship. These are all skills that will help them in both college and life.
The use of technology in my classroom has provided an opportunity for all of my students to begin to build a foundation for what they will soon experience in a college or university setting.
Numerous times throughout instruction we will watch short educational videos that have quizzes embedded within them to assess learning. It's a great way to make educational videos interactive. We do this through Canvas studio and Nearpod. Sometimes we do it as a class, but it can also be used on an individual basis where students can work at their own pace. Many students don't have their own headphones or forget to bring them, so it would be nice to have a class set of headphones available for student use.
Our class also has a printer that everyone has access to.
Students print their essays, resumes, letters of reference, applications, and images to help complete projects. As you can imagine, we go through quite a bit of printer ink and are in need of more supplies so I can continue to meet the needs of my students.
All of these supplies, of course need a safe and organized place to store it in the classroom so they are well taken care of and accounted for. The ability to store these materials properly will ensure that they are returned after every class and well taken care of.
