My Students
In 2017, the two high schools in our district were consolidated. One of the school's band was HBCU style, and the other was Corps style. We merged them together and are working on becoming a full Corps style band.
75% of the students in our band come from extreme low-income homes, must use school-owned instruments, and have no money for band method books, reeds, or accessories for their instrument.
Due to paying for repairs to school-owned instruments that are very old, we have no extra money in our school budget for books the students may use to improve their musicianship.
My Project
Sound Innovations is a great Band Method Book that will help our band step up to the level we are required to be on.
In 2017, our two high schools in the district consolidated; one was a 3A school and the other a 4A school. Since merging, we have become a 5A school and are required by our state standards to play harder music. Having these Sound Innovations Method Books will help us to acquire more technical and musical skills.
We will always need lots of Clarinet and Alto Saxophone reeds to give to our low income students that cannot afford to purchase their own.
