System 44 is a foundational reading program designed for the most challenged struggling readers in Grades 3-12. Intentionally metacognitive, System 44 helps students understand that the English language is a finite system of 44 sounds and 26 letters that can be mastered. System 44 was designed for students in Grades 3-12 reading at a BR-400 Lexile ® level, including Special Education students and English-Language learners.
My project will enable students to practice their literacy skills and improve reading fluency in struggling readers. Having these headphones will allow students to hear what they are saying and allow them correct their pronunciations. Students will use the headphones and microphones to practice each sound, how to properly blend the different sounds and correct any speech inflections.
These headphones can also be used at other times during the day.
Students at my school are in a blended learning environment. This means they use a combination of Chrome Books for online learning as well as small group direct instruction with the teacher.
