Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and amazing kids from the south side of Chicago. Most of the kids I teach are faced with challenges in their lives, both at home and at school. As their music teacher, I hope to help my students by encouraging them to express themselves in positive ways.
My students love music class because they get a chance to share a creative experience with their peers.
Our school is run on a bare-bones budget, and funding for the arts is just not there. Your donation would help to provide a quality musical experience for deserving students.
My Project
Our students come from low income families, and don't have a lot to spend on clothing. I am requesting new shirts to distribute during Black History Month. We will be studying 'Soul Train' throughout the school building during February, and the shirts will be an amazing addition to the celebration.
These Soul Train shirts will serve as school-approved clothing for students in need, as well as a way for kids to celebrate Black history and culture in Chicago.
Soul Train uplifted Black voices, and bridged the cultural gap for many during a turbulent time. Soul Train has a lot to teach our students, who are living in the city of Chicago, where the show was filmed. These Soul Train shirts will be welcome additions to the wardrobes of needy students, as well as a way to foster cultural pride. Thanks for your support.
