Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and amazing kids from the south side of Chicago. Most of the kids I teach are faced with challenges in their lives, both at home and at school. As their music teacher, I hope to help my students by encouraging them to express themselves in positive ways.

My students love music class because they get a chance to share a creative experience with their peers.

Our school is run on a bare-bones budget, and funding for the arts is just not there. Your donation would help to provide a quality musical experience for deserving students.

My Project

Soul Train started in Chicago. The show uplifted Black voices and bridged the cultural gap for many during a turbulent time. We will be celebrating Black History Month with an all-school Soul Train unit and party. I am requesting new disco ball keychains to distribute to Soul Train dance participants! The lights will add to the excitement of the Soul Train dance line through the halls.

Soul Train has been a fun and authentic way for us to celebrate Black history and culture in Chicago.

Soul Train has a lot to teach our students. Learning about Soul Train has connected our students with local history, their families, and their teachers and school staff. These Soul Train supplies add greatly to the celebration, and will help foster cultural pride. Thanks for your support.
