My students need solar power kits, solar chargers to harness energy from the sun, solar power task lights, books about solar power and solar powered car kits.
Let the Sun Shine In! Solar Power comes to life in this project inspired by S.O.S.!! (Solar Offers Sustainability) Part 2.
My students are beginning makers using projects and experimentation in science, technology, engineering, and technology to learn about the world around them.
My students learn best in a non-traditional manner using lots of hands on trial and error, cooperation, and collaboration with classmates.
My Project
My students will be able to read about solar power, use solar power lights during their work day, and charge electronics they use in the classroom. By using solar power in their everyday lives students will realize the importance of developing more solar powered products. Students will also experiment with capturing the power of the sun in various settings as they build and power solar powered cars and operate them in teams.
Students will research solar power, build cars collaboratively, experiment in order to locate the best settings to capture the power of the sun, and then revisit their projects to make changes if necessary.
Solar power is such an important concept for students to explore.
These students are our future, and by learning more about sustainable power sources they will be learning how to take care of our earth. We need to teach students to think critically while understanding the consequences of human actions on the environment.
