I am an art teacher at a NY public school that serves students from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade. I serve around 500 students a week.
My students are from low income families. Unfortunately many have not had access to a wide variety of visuals and art mediums.
Our budget is non-existent and materials are hard to come by.
I looked in my supply closet yesterday and realized I am down to 2 packages of 9 x 12 drawing paper and 2 packages of 12 x 18 paper.
This paper has to last me the rest of this year and unfortunately probably next year as well because we have no supply budget.
What am I going to do without your help?
It's so hard to be the art teacher and have to tell your students there is not enough paper!
We would be grateful for a dozen packages of each size of drawing paper -9 x 12 and 12 x 18.
I would be able to finish out this year and be in fantastic shape for next year as well.
We could use 10 packages of black construction paper for mounting our artwork for display. About 15 packs of beautiful colors for mounting as well and 10 9x 12 assorted colors for collage work projects.
Paper is essential in an art room. It is really the most necessary of all my supplies.
I never want to deny my students anything. Paper is something precious in my classroom and I teach them to re-use paper and recycle but there is no way I can finish out the year serving 500 students with 4 reams of paper!
I really need your help. Thank you for bringing the basics back to art.
