SOR Into Reading Part 1

My Project

I teach in a Title I, rural school in SW Missouri where students come from many different cultures and many different native languages. These students come into the classroom with a desire to read and write. This has been provided with limited resources that are available to our classroom.

My students range from 6 cultures with 5 different languages and want to SOR into reading!

Each of the items that we are in need of have a specific purpose to help us SOR into reading. Clothespins and dry erase markers will be used in our center time to make sure that the students have understanding. The other items will be used in our small group. For example, the paint tray will be able to hold the letters that we will be using for the lesson as well as writing with the dry erase marker the word we are working on. These are invaluable to our learning.

The students will SOR into reading while learning through whole and small group and center time. All students deserve to have the same opportunity to learn using items that will benefit them.
