My Students

Kids need to be researching, writing, and sharing constantly. This is a multi-classroom request. The success of this project will be shared between 7 sophomore English classrooms.

Classrooms should be a hive of activity with instant access to knowledge and support.

Classroom Chromebooks will go a long way towards this.

My school is nestled in the EBH next to the San Francisco Bay area and our District is a diverse population with kids from all over the world. Being so close to the heart of the technological revolution, my students are savvy about technology and excited whenever we can make it part of our curriculum. My school is completely committed to Common Core standards that shoot for thoughtful, student-centered projects that incorporate research and writing.

My Project

Sophomore students will use classroom Chromebook carts for research, writing, and collaboration. These carts will be shared across seven classrooms. Using Google Docs, students will be able to maintain an archive of their work that they can access throughout their high school education. As students create drafts and share them with me via Google Docs, we can give them instant feedback in real time. Students will also be able to work with each other collaboratively, creating group Google Docs, sharing research and creating presentations all in the classroom with easy access to a teacher.

Presently, students and teachers in both English and History are sharing three Chromebook carts for a population of over 2,400 students.

Both students and teachers need much more access to in-class technology. As it stands now, teachers are not able to fully implement all the lessons, strategies and access to research and writing which they want and need.
