My Students

Our students in Highline School District are widely varying, inspired, talented and focused on graduation. They each find pathways which bring them to excel. Our district is largely free and reduced lunch, and our school is no exception. The diversity in our school is rich; less than 35% identify as Caucasian, while approximately 25% are Latino. Black and/or African Americans and Asian students make up approximately 30% of our total population. Our school music programs offer high-quality arts education to all students who may wish to seek it.

My Project

The Finale proprietary software requested in this project is an essential part of a quality choral program which challenges and engages students. It contains useful tools which will aid in dissecting and communicating regarding the elements of music such as key, intervals, transposition, pitch, melody, harmony, chords and more. The tool also allows for easier highlighting of these elements while learning or creating a piece of music. Students can manipulate musical theory elements, and the teacher can also easily create to provide learning opportunities for students to meaningfully engage not only in music learning and interpretation, but also creative composition.
