Did you every play an instrument while you were in school? Or did you wish you had played or continued playing longer than you did?
My students are 5th grade beginning band and orchestra students who are about to begin their own musical journey.
Over 70% of the students in 5th grade participate in instrumental music, and they are very eager to learn!
The demographic of our school is changing. Many of our students now receive free or reduced lunch and rely on the school to supply an instrument and/or supplies their first year.
My Project
My band students are in need of new music for upcoming concerts. We have a few titles in our band library, but they all have been recently programmed or are not suitable for the needs of this particular group.
New concert music will help enhance the quality of our music program while giving students an opportunity to be excited about music never before programmed at our school.
'Songs for the Season!' also includes requests for supplies that some of our students can't afford to purchase on their own. Many of our families are low income families and purchasing reeds or cleaning swabs are just not in their budget.
