My students need some basic supplies in order to run an efficient choral classroom, and to modernize our data collection and security for said classroom (the shredder and scanner).
Our middle school choir is a highly motivated group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! They perform at local school and town opportunities, where they showcase their voices, as well as inter-state competitions such as the high note music festival, and performance opportunities such as High Note Music Festival.
These students are talented and highly motivated performers, who regularly conduct, arrange, accompany, write, and perform solos for the community through the program.
This group of young men and young women, led by their Grammy-nominated educator, perform pieces from a wide variety of genres, periods, and styles!
An 8th-grade executive board of 8 diverse students help make it possible, assist in planning, come up with fundraising and programming ideas, and perform community outreach.
My Project
I am striving to make the SOMS choral department as up-to-date and efficient as possible. In order to do that, I am attempting to expand our program through the following means:
Providing the SOMS Choral department with these upgrades will prove to be a great step in bringing the best education I can to the kids, while keeping them safe, healthy, and engaged.
A break-down of the requested items:
#1) Providing in-house hand sanitizing , to cut down on learning lost in the hall way to go to the bathroom, and to promote healthy vocal life style (since the vocal cords are so vulnerable).
#2) Providing an in-depth look at vocal health using the Larynx model. Middle school is an awful time for voice changes, so this will help.
#3) Keeping sensitive information discreet using the new document scanner will cut down on the possibility of any lost paperwork. After said paperwork is received, it can be destroyed using the new paper shredder.
#4) Students will be able to apply writing and composing in class now because of the whiteboard sets I will be able to provide for all of my students.
