This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a school counselor in a high poverty school district outside of Philadelphia. They are amazing students but at times have life situations that may be stressful or upsetting. Often my students are learning to control their emotions in environments or situations out of their own control.
All of my projects go towards developing a comprehensive school counseling program that services these amazing students that come from a variety of backgrounds.
These projects help me be the best school counselor I can be for them.
My Project
Students learn through in all different ways but I find including visuals helps my students with the lesson or topic being discussed. I will utilize the LCD projector and speakers for classroom lessons and small group presentations. My lessons often include short clips, inspirational speakers, a Power Point, or even movies related to career exploration, social emotional learning, or anti-bullying strategies. The stress ball will keep some of my more energetic students on task as they view the presentation.
All students need access to different resources to help the learning to be accomplished.
Visual and auditory learners benefit from having access to see and hearing concepts during the lesson as well as making the lesson more engaging for the students!
