Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in elementary school, from grades K through 5. Some students have special needs and others are in general education. My students have sensory disorders, learning disabilities, and speech and language impairments. Others are at risk of needing special education services. While we struggle at times academically, socially, and emotionally, we are always striving to do our best. It can be difficult, but we have big hopes and goals and cannot wait to show how much progress we can and will make.
My students are trying their best to work together with partners, in small groups, and to stay attentive in order to learn new material.
As a whole, my students are performing below grade level, but we won't let that stop us. It is my goal to help them achieve big things this year! We use what we love to keep engagement and buy-in high and diminish our frustration and negativity.
My Project
We are back in the swing of things. Students are here, ready to learn. We are making up for some lost time and looking forward to the time ahead. I am working with small groups this year for intervention support. These materials will help us maximize our time together, by keeping us organized and engaged. It has been a while since we have all been together, so I know my students will benefit from the sensory items, timers, behavior supports, and affirmation cards.
Who doesn't love new school supplies and materials?
I know I loved getting items that were brand new, not reused year after year. I am hoping to create a small class away from the homeroom, where students can feel comfortable, relaxed, and eager to learn. Our cart, storage bins, and binders will keep each group's work organized, wasting no time for instruction.
