Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Throughout my day, I teach nearly 130 students math at different levels. From special needs to gifted, I see them all throughout the day. These kids all deserve a chance to focus on the skills that need specific improvement. The best way to do this is to level the playing field.
When all students start on equal footing, they all thrive.
I've seen the lowest of students work hard to become the most improved student in my class. I've seen the highest student blow me away with their abilities to problem solve in new ways that I've never seen before.
My students always surprise me with their progress throughout the year and I am hoping to make that progress grow even more.
My Project
My students need calculators to ensure that they are focused on the steps and concepts of algebra and geometry instead of being hindered by small errors in calculation.
By donating to the project, you will help students feel more confident in their math skills and more willing to try in the classroom.
Students will also gain skills with the calculators that will continue to help them through the rest of their journeys through the world of mathematics. These calculators will help all students, from special needs all the way to advanced and gifted students. It may seem small, but having a calculator for each student will allow full class demonstrations and improve the confidence of each student.
