My Students

Each child brings with them their own unique set of experiences and ways of interacting with the world. In their own special ways they approach everything with wonder and enthusiasm. It is so much fun to witness their discoveries every day.

We are a classroom of scientists and explorers, musicians and storytellers, meeting each day as artists and engineers, question-askers and answer-seekers.

Our days are filled with smiles and conversations. Many of the students in my class have already experienced many hardships and this is their very first time going to school. I would like to be able to offer my students the materials and opportunities needed to build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning...and of loving learning! Each student deserves access to the materials, experiences, and opportunities necessary for future success, in school and beyond.

My Project

With more than half the class dual language learners from all over the world, play is an important vehicle for us to learn words, build confidence with our vocabularies, and practice communicating our ideas. Since children can have such diverse learning styles, when they are able to explore different materials and test their theories, they have a wonderful opportunity to develop their own thoughts and express them effectively to others.

This wish list has something for everyone, and will help me meet my children where they are at.

The marble run will allow us to work together at the water table and on the rug. A magnetic alphabet puzzle with all the colors of the rainbow will engage each of us, because some of us are into letters and writing, while others are interested in how magnets work, and some of us just love rainbows! A wooden clock with shapes and colors will be most exciting for the ones who are fascinated by clocks. The silk scarves will transform into rivers, oceans, mountains and forests for our animals, people, and cars. They will also be fun to dance with...because we all love music and dancing this year! The unifix cube graph base will allow us to compare our individual ideas, preferences, and choices during circle time, introducing key math concepts while utilizing a toy they already enjoy. Finally, the Snap-bots kit will allow their little fingers to get the exercise and skills they need while building robots, something they regularly ask to create! These materials will be an exciting and uplifting addition to our classroom.
