Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing little individuals! The students in my class are diverse in every way! They are experiencing their second year of school filled with learning as they are immersed in a dual language classroom where they continue to learn a new language together as well as apart! This year we get to go back to the classroom and we are excited!

My students are definitely resilient!

Their little brains can absorb so much in a year and seeing them apply what they have learned is like a gift for me!

My Project

Books are a gateway to the world outside our classroom! Through these books students get to see adventures of characters who look like them. This allows students to dream about what they can do and "experience" a new adventure.

With this project I plan to give each child their own "Me gusta como soy!" (I Like Myself!) book, so that they can see how special their differences are.

Students in my class forget how it's so great to be different.

Having the other books available to them will help them learn strategies on kindness and generosity. I mean, who couldn't use a little bit more of that in the world?
