This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is made of a diverse bunch including English language learners, students with social and emotional disabilities, and general education students. As you can imagine my Kindergartners are a very lively bunch. They have dreams of becoming astronauts, doctors, and veterinarians just to name a few.
My goal is to ensure they have the fundamental basics to make their dreams a reality.
Every day my students arrive with a smile and desire to learn. I hope you will help me give my students the boost they need to reach the stars.
My Project
Developing problem-solving skills for early learners is no easy feat. However, using today's technology has made this endeavor a lot more engaging and enjoyable.
In the words of Picasso, ”Everything you can imagine is real."
This quote inspires me to develop creative and innovative ways to engage my students in developing critical-thinking skills. The attention and interest of the 21st Century learners, must be captivated with the use of hands-on technology to effectively keep them engaged. Therefore, the resources requested in this project will ensure that demand is met. Using the Botley Robot activity set will provide my students with concrete and tactile coding experiences. They will have an opportunity to interact with complex problem-solving skills in a hands-on way. Additionally, the Chromebook will be used to enable them to move from concrete to abstract learning by using virtual reality to simulate coding and problem-solving experiences at coding websites. With the combination of these lessons, my students will enhance their ability to apply these essential skills to everyday academic learning experiences as well.
