This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach fifth grade ELA in the inner city Oklahoma City school district. Although my students love to learn, reading and writing is still a challenge to some of them since English is their second language. They need to feel free of the everyday restrictions they face.

I would love to give my students the chance to feel confident about reading and writing.

I would love to give them a chance to grow and change as students. To see them flourish, would truly be an amazing sight!

My Project

With class resizing, I now have 27 kids per class. Sometimes it is just hard to walk around with all the desks and chairs. Flex space comfy seats and a clipboard for each student would give them more room. Instead of working at their desk, they could have the choice to move to the floor. They can sit in the flex space comfy seats while using the clipboard to do their work on.

Some students have trouble sitting still in a desk for large amounts of time and having a choice to move to the floor without sitting on the floor will open up more learning.
