Do you remember your high school math class? Did math come to you easily? Did you spend hours reviewing your notes and still not understand? During the year we create many graphic organizers and other projects. Please help us start the year with basic supplies as we have none left from this year.
My students are in a high poverty school.
Over 90% of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. It is difficult to get them to school and even harder to get them here with supplies ready to learn. Once they enter my classroom, my focus is on them. Many can not afford the basic supplies to assist their learning let alone additional supplies to enrich their learning. Many of them had me last year and many more did not. I am trying to prepare my students for college and the world. Many jobs and colleges require collaboration skills. I am creating an environment where collaboration is strong and all students should have the tools to express their ideas. With markers, pens, white-out, and over-sized Post-It Notes, my students can express themselves boldly! Please help my students prepare themselves for a life outside of high school.
My Project
Math is not an easy subject to get students interested in. I give my students plenty of hands on creations and collaboration activities to keep them learning while having fun. I just need some of the basic supplies. Imagine creating an over-sized graphic organizer with your team. To do this, we need the over-sized post-it notes and markers. When we create our portable version, we need pens, highlighters and regular sized Post-It Notes. There is a very limited fund to purchase supplies due to many years of budget cuts, so fun items like this are out of the picture. Please help us fill this gap in funding so my students can enjoy learning math.
Preparing students for college and the world with math is very challenging.
