My Students

Many students have a fear of not being able to understand math. They come into class with low self esteem in this area and sometimes are unwilling to try for fear of being wrong. My goal is to help get rid of the doubt that comes along with math for many students. I want to ensure my students are thinkers and problem solvers. There is nothing quite as special as the moment a student realizes they are capable of something they had always believed themselves to be incapable of before.

My Project

This is my first year teaching this Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. I am basically coming in empty-handed. I know not all of my students will be able to purchase a scientific calculator for my class. I would love to be able to provide these calculators for my classes. Many students have a fear of math walking in the first day, and I want to help get rid of as much stress and anxiety as possible so we can focus on learning and developing a sense of understanding of the math being taught. By providing them for every student, it takes the focus off the students who cannot purchase them on their own.
