Schools today are woefully underfunded and these trying times make it even harder to support students the way we would like . Nevertheless, I work in a school where the students enter the classroom eager and excited to learn. I am proud of all my students - of their hard work, their commitment to their learning (even at this age), their thoughtfulness and perseverance. They are truly wonderful!
Young children learn best by visual and hands-on engagement.
As a teacher, it is important to address students' individual needs and learning styles. Using visual aids and hands-on manipulatives is one of the most successful ways to engage students. They help ensure the child's success academically and addresses individual learning style while providing sensory engagement. They create both academic and emotional engagement in the learning process!
My Project
Dab a Dot markers have been used by teachers for years. They are a developmentally appropriate way that help young learners in countless ways, including learning how to count, add, subtract, learn patterns, model math problems, and learn colors in an easy, fun, engaging, visual way. Using the markers also helps teach young children fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

The best way for children to learn is to provide them with the means and ways in which they are able to engage in these ways. Nothing is better than watching a young child beam with pride and joy when given these opportunities to showcase their learning and accomplishments.
