Imagine a room full of independent and inquisitive fifth graders all working toward their own learning goals. Our wing is a think tank filled with the leaders of tomorrow. We are unique and their learning is important to the global future.
Our school is located in one of the most vibrant cities in the Northeast!
It is home to a diverse base of families and a spectrum of socioeconomic backgrounds. Every classroom mirrors the diversity in our beautiful city.
About half of our students receive free or reduced cost lunch, while many others do not. This is what makes our grade level and school a rich and vibrant community much like Portland. These students deserve a vibrant and diversified learning experience that highlights this.
My Project
There are so many benefits to having flexible seating in a classroom full of inquisitive thinkers. From low seating to high seating, students can find a place where they are comfortable to work. Flexible seating is steeped in research and the proof is plentiful.
Safe, comfortable stools mean longer and stronger learning.
These stools mean students have agency - voice, choice, and ownership in their learning style. The four stools that make up this project are geared toward a safe, sensible way to provide a place where students can work and collaborate. This allows them to choose a workspace It works, but it isn't cheap or easy to obtain. That being said, the two adjustable desks that make up this project are geared toward a safe, sensible way to provide a place where students can stand and work. This allows them to move freely around their workspace where their bodies can wiggle and feet can move.
