Soil Proscope Project

My Students

At the end of the year, students will use the iPad mini to research the makeup of different types of soil and observe several items under the iPad Proscope. The iPad will assist my science students to compete in the global world by incorporating STEM.

My students are high achievers that learn well when doing hands on activities that are provided from real life experiences.

Our school is a technology school and our administration encourage teachers to incorporate technology in all the content areas.

My Project

My students will use the iPad to connect a Proscope and Probeware to test various items. Also, they will observe various items to complete STEM based activities such as soil testing, conductivity testing, pond water testing and soil observations. They will be able to see all the metals and makeup of the soil under the proscope. They will analyze three different soils and determine which soil is the best to grow plants. They will analyze three different areas of the on-site pond and determine if the pond is safe for organisms living there.

My students will impact the environment by testing the end water and analyzing it's nutrients under the Proscope.

Students will also do various test using the Probeware that is attached to the iPad. Since this activity focus on the local Pond, students will be impacting the local ecosystem.
