Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Coaching in a low income school district can have its challenges, but is rewarding at the same time. The school is located in a suburb outside of Philadelphia and is comprised of one high school, four elementary schools and a kindergarten center. The softball team is pulled from all four schools in a central location. Our team is comprised of mostly first time softball players that have never used equipment before. Unfortunately, over the summer we had terrible rains and our supply closet was flooded. All of the equipment for outside sports was ruined. We have to rebuild our program in a district that funds are low. The girls are devastated with the loss of the equipment and as a team we are slowly replacing what we had.

My Project

Recently our softball closet was rained out. All of our equipment was ruined! We have to build a middle school program with new equipment and not all of our players can afford equipment on their own and every donation matters.

We like to have rolling bags to make traveling easier and safe.

The bags will help us to keep organized and keep all equipment out of troubling weather. We use one bag to carry two sets of catching equipment and the other bag for helmets. We have girls of all different sizes and need equipment to fit every one of them.
