After a tumultuous few years of low participation, folding programs, and little success, the 2018-2019 school year has signaled the return of female sports at our high school in Indianapolis, Indiana. The last step in solidifying the return of our Lady Hornets sports programs is the success of our softball team this spring. Our team this year is comprised of a talented group of returning players and an abundance of underclassmen looking to play softball for the first time. These young women have been working tirelessly to prepare for our upcoming season this spring. They have made it clear that they are not willing to accept anything less than greatness on the softball field.
While our young ladies are gifted athletes, they also display their intelligence, dedication, and leadership outside the game of softball.
These remarkable young women are destined to become the leaders of our school, our community, and our city. To reach our full potential, we need the support of our friends, family, and community. With your help, our girls will develop the skills necessary to become successful on the softball field and in life.
My Project
Softball can be a costly sport. Each player needs a glove, bat, cleats and additional equipment to be fully prepared for a varsity season. The combined cost, which can be hundreds of dollars, can place a tremendous financial burden on our students' families. To help alleviate any financial stress, we are in need of gloves and catcher's gear to provide our students with the necessary equipment to be competitive during our season this spring.
Providing our girls with high-quality equipment will help ensure that they have a successful 2019 season where they will develop teamwork skills, leadership experience, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Currently, our gear is incomplete and outdated. Many of our gloves are visibly weathered, and our catcher's equipment is partially broken and insufficient. This donation is essential to ensure our student-athletes can eliminate the competitive disadvantage we face when playing teams with excellent equipment.
We are so fortunate to have a special group of student-athletes on our 2019 roster, and I want nothing more than to help them have the most successful season possible. Thank you in advance to anyone who is willing to consider supporting our girls in our upcoming season.
