My students need the basic softball equipment including bases, hitting tees, bats, and catchers equipment for safety in order to start a softball club at school.
A softball club will bring unity, culture and school spirit to a developing school. As an after-school club/team the softball program will help guide our students not only through sports, but will help support them in the classroom as well.
My students come from diverse racial, academic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
They all come to my physical education classroom with a wide-variety of skill levels.
Though my school has increased in size and programs offered during the school day, we see a need to add extra-curricular activities, including sports clubs, to support our students' development.
Many of my students have never belonged on a sports team of any kind. My goal is to provide students with the experience and lessons learned through being part of a team. I truly believe that sports and sports clubs are a great way to enhance students academic and social-emotional development though middle and high school.
My Project
We will use these materials to begin a softball after-school club at our school for both middle and high school students. As we have never had a softball or baseball club at our school, these materials are crucial to starting such a program which will eventually become a team.
We need the bases, tees, hitting and catcher's equipment in order to learn the fundamental skills of softball. We also need the safety equipment in order to make sure our club follows all necessary safety precautions.
These materials will help us successfully start a new softball club at our school.
This club, with the help of your generous donation, will help give our students the opportunity to try something new they've never had a chance to do.
These materials will help my students join together as a team and learn to support each other as classmates and teammates. Additionally, this club will help students find an outlet for everyday struggles they are faced with and will help them learn different strategies for overcoming obstacles they may face.
